574.075. Drunkenness or drinking in certain places prohibited — penalty

Being drunk or drinking in schools, churches, or courthouses is against the law

If someone is drunk and disorderly or drinks alcohol in a school, church, or courthouse while others are present, they can be charged with a misdemeanor.

1. A person commits this offense if they:

  • Enter a schoolhouse or church where people are gathered for a legal reason, or enter a courthouse, while intoxicated and acting disorderly; or
  • Drink or offer to drink alcohol in front of such a group of people, or in any courthouse.

2. Drunkenness or drinking in a prohibited place is a class B misdemeanor.
