565.091. Harassment, second degree, penalty.

Doing something to upset someone on purpose can be a crime.

This law makes it illegal to act in a way that is meant to cause emotional distress to someone if there’s no good reason.

1. A person commits second-degree harassment offense if they do something on purpose to upset another person emotionally and don’t have a valid reason for it.

2. This is normally a class A misdemeanor, but if the person has been found guilty of similar offenses before, it becomes a class E felony.

3. This law does not apply to police or law enforcement officers doing official investigations.
