577.599. Failure to comply with ignition interlock device requirements — penalty

Driving without a required ignition interlock device is a crime

If someone is ordered by the court or the Department of Revenue to drive with an ignition interlock device but drives without one, they can be charged with a misdemeanor.

1. A person commits this offense if they knowingly drive a vehicle that doesn’t have a working, certified ignition interlock device, even though a court or the Department of Revenue required them to use one.

2. Failure to follow ignition interlock requirements is a class A misdemeanor.
