569.120. Property Damage in the Second Degree — Penalty
Damaging someone else’s property can be a crime, even if it’s less than $750
Under Missouri law, you can be charged with second-degree property damage for causing damage to another person’s belongings, even if the damage is minor.
1. You may be guilty of this offense if you:
- (1) Knowingly damage someone else’s property;
- (2) Damage property in an attempt to cheat or defraud an insurance company.
2. The penalties are as follows:
- Class B misdemeanor — the standard penalty for this offense.
- Class A misdemeanor — if you target a law enforcement officer or one of their close family members on purpose.
