579.021. Delivery of a controlled substance causing serious physical injury, offense of — penalty — definition.

Giving someone drugs that seriously hurt them is a felony

This law makes it a crime to give someone drugs that are mixed with other drugs if the person ends up seriously hurt from using them.

1. You break this law if you give or sell a controlled substance to someone, knowing it’s mixed with another drug, and that person suffers serious physical injury from using it.

2. It doesn’t matter if the injured person chose to take the drug or agreed to have someone else give it to them—the person delivering the drug can still be charged.

3. This offense is a Class C felony.

4. In this law, “controlled substance” means a drug listed in Schedule I or II under Missouri law.
