578.423. Participating Knowingly in Criminal Street Gang Activities — Penalty

Helping a gang commit crimes can land you in prison in Missouri

It’s illegal in Missouri to knowingly be involved in a criminal street gang and help carry out felony crimes.

According to the statute:

  • A person breaks the law if they actively participate in a criminal street gang,
  • Know that the gang is involved in ongoing criminal activity, and
  • Intentionally help or support the gang in committing a felony.

This law targets those who promote, further, or assist in serious gang-related crimes — even if they didn’t commit the main crime themselves.

Penalty: This offense is a class B felony.
