577.612. Tampering with or circumventing the operation of an interlock device — penalty
Trying to cheat or bypass an ignition interlock device is a crime
If someone tries to get around the rules of an ignition interlock device—either by tampering with it, getting someone else to start the car, or helping someone else cheat—they can be charged with a misdemeanor.
1. A person commits this offense if they:
- (1) Have a restricted license requiring an interlock device and ask someone else to blow into the device or start the car for them;
- (2) Blow into the device or start the car for someone else who’s required to use the device by law; or
- (3) Tamper with or try to bypass the interlock device in any way.
2. Tampering with or circumventing an ignition interlock device is a class A misdemeanor.
