566.062. Statutory sodomy and attempt to commit, first degree, penalties.

It’s a felony to have sex acts with a child under 14.

If someone has or tries to have deviate sexual intercourse (oral or anal sex, or penetration with an object) with a child younger than 14, they can face very serious prison time in Missouri.

1. A person commits first-degree statutory sodomy if they have deviate sexual intercourse with someone under 14 years old.

2. This crime, or an attempt to commit it, is a felony punishable by life in prison or at least 5 years, unless:

  • (1) It’s an aggravated sexual offense or the victim is under 12 years old — then the minimum is 10 years or life in prison.
  • (2) The offender is a persistent or predatory sexual offender — then extended sentencing applies under section 566.125.
