565.074. Domestic assault, third degree — penalty.

It’s a felony to try to hurt or cause pain to someone you’re close to.

This law makes it a crime to try to injure or intentionally cause pain or illness to a “domestic victim.” (A domestic victim is a spouse, former spouse, someone you live with or used to live with, someone you’re dating or have dated, or a close family member.)

1. A person commits third-degree domestic assault if they try to cause injury or knowingly cause pain or illness to a domestic victim.

2. This is a class E felony.
