Lets victims of abuse, stalking, or assault ask the court for protection

If someone has been hurt or threatened by a family or household member, stalked, or sexually assaulted, they can file a request for protection—and that protection applies statewide.

1. Anyone who has experienced domestic violence, stalking, or sexual assault from a current or former family or household member can file a verified petition for protection under §§455.010 to 455.085.

2. You can still ask for protection even if you’ve already left your home to escape the abuse.

3. Any order of protection granted under these laws applies across all counties and cities in Missouri.
