578.025. Dogfighting — penalty

Organizing or allowing dogfighting is a felony in Missouri

It is a serious crime to train, fight, or let dogs be used in dogfighting. Anyone involved in organizing, participating in, or allowing it to happen can be charged with a felony.

1. A person commits dogfighting if they:

  • (1) Own, keep, or train a dog with the intent to have it fight another dog;
  • (2) Cause dogs to fight or injure each other for entertainment or profit; or
  • (3) Allow or help any of these acts to happen on property they control.

2. Dogfighting is a class E felony.
