574.050. Rioting — penalty.

It’s a crime to join a group that uses force to break the law.

This law makes it illegal to gather with six or more people to plan and then actually commit a crime using force or violence.

1. A person commits rioting if they:

  • Knowingly gather with six or more people and agree to break the law using force or violence; and
  • Then, while still with the group, actually break the law using force or violence.

2. Rioting is a class A misdemeanor.
