573.060. Public display of explicit sexual material — penalties.
It’s illegal to show explicit sexual content in public where others can see it.
This law makes it a crime to openly display graphic sexual content where people — including children — might see it from public places. It also applies if someone knows about such a display on their property and doesn’t take it down.
1. A person commits public display of explicit sexual material if they recklessly:
- (1) Show or display explicit sexual material in a place where it can easily be seen by people from a street, sidewalk, highway, someone else’s property, or inside a store that sells other regular items;
- (2) Know about such a display on their property and don’t remove it quickly.
2. The penalties are:
- Class A misdemeanor for the first offense;
- Class E felony if the person has been convicted of this crime before at a different time.
3. Each day the explicit display continues counts as a separate offense.
