Lying about your age online to try to get with a minor is a crime

In Missouri, it’s illegal to lie about your age online if you’re doing it to try to commit a sex crime involving a minor.

1. A person commits this crime if they knowingly pretend to be a different age—usually younger—while using the internet or electronic messages to try to engage in sexual conduct with a minor.

2. This offense is a class E felony.
