§ 302.425 – SATOP Required for Underage Alcohol Offenses in Missouri

302.425. Completion of substance abuse traffic offender program, persons under twenty-one years of age, required, when, standards by department of mental health.

If you’re under 21 and guilty of an alcohol offense, you must complete a treatment program.

Anyone under 21 who’s found guilty of alcohol possession or use must complete a substance abuse program as part of their court sentence.

1. Courts must order completion of a Substance Abuse Traffic Offender Program (SATOP) for anyone under 21 who:

  • Is found guilty of or pleads guilty to a state, county, or municipal law involving alcohol use or possession, or
  • Is found by a juvenile court to have committed such an offense

This requirement is in addition to any other legal penalties the court may impose.
