455.505. Relief may be sought for child for domestic violence, stalking, or sexual assault — order of protection effective, where.

Children can get protection orders if they are victims of abuse, stalking, or sexual assault.

This law allows a child who has experienced domestic violence, stalking, or sexual assault to be protected by a court order. The protection applies statewide.

1. A protection order for a child may be requested by filing a verified petition that claims the child has been abused by a current or former household member, or has been stalked or sexually assaulted by any person.

2. A child’s right to ask for a protection order does not go away just because the child left the home to escape the abuse.

3. Any protection order issued under these laws is valid and enforceable in every city and county in Missouri.
